"For all the rain that's been in the area this summer, we had a perfect week! We brought the beautiful weather from sunny Florida! All the kids had a wonderful time skiing and tubing. We all had a great time sunning ourselves on the beach. Between all the family we had here this past week we represented 3 states: Colorado, Florida, and New Jersey! We all had a blast!"

Hello Kathan people - I'm not sure who I am talking to but I wanted you all to know how much this website has meant to me and my kids. We were fortunate enough to be introduced to Kathan' Kamps many years ago by Susan Leeser whose parents Hi and Marion Lowe were good friends of Norman and Marjorie Kathan. We spent two or three years at the Great Sacandaga Lake, either in Homestead or Hemlock, the most relaxing and meaningful vacations of our lives. We had young children at the time and fond memories still fill our lives of Dad taking the kids down to the uninhabited beach (because it was soooo early in the morning) for their swimming lessons. No one could go out on our Sunfish until they could swim to the float and back without having to stop for a rest.
The children who are now in their 30's and 40's talk often about their times at Sacandaga. Their fondest wish is to go back there and take their children to show them that wonderful life. We are hoping to get there in the summer of 2007, complete with all 9 grandchildren. Right now it is a dream to have for the next year.
I am the grandmother of this brood. My husband Joe recently passed away after a bout with colon cancer and it was always his dream to go back to "the Lake" and share it with our grands. So, our memories will come back to life and the children will love it, I know.
